The Civil Hospital, Palampur is collaborating with CSIR-IHBT to provide fortified food products to post-natal women under the Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram scheme of the National Health Mission. These products include protein and fiber-enriched energy bars, iron-enriched Spirulina bars, and iron-enriched fruit bars developed by the institute scientists. The nutritional kits offer 25% of the recommended daily allowance of proteins and essential micronutrient iron. Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director of CSIR-IHBT, launched the distribution of these products to beneficiaries at the hospital, along with Dr. Soumitra Chakravorty, Senior Medical Officer and other hospital authorities. The Civil Hospital in Palampur will distribute these kits to post-natal women receiving medical care at the facility. Dr. Chakravorty mentioned that the kits will be sourced from CSIR-IHBT technology partners for ongoing supplementation under the JSSK scheme.
